- A candidate should normally have a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours Bachelors degree in Microbiology from Moi University or any other University recognized by Senate and commission for University Education (CUE).
- Candidates with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS), Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine (BScCM), Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health (BScEH) or any other degree in biomedical sciences with at least a credit in Microbiology will be considered.
- Candidates with lower second class Honours with at least a credit in Microbiology will be considered in addition be required to have two years experience in relevant field.
